Green Dream with LGIM’s Sacha Sadan: Covid forces boards to think outside the box

LGIM’s Sadan describes how the firm puts its $1.5trn in AUM to good use in this Green Dream video interview

In this episode of the Green Dream, the video series where ESG Clarity interviews key figureheads in the responsible investment world to get their views on the latest trends, news and movements in this evolving landscape, ESG Clarity editor Natalie Kenway speaks to Sacha Sadan, director of investment stewardship at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM).

Sadan shares the latest ESG developments at LGIM and how its $1.5trn in assets under management, and “significant index book”, is put to good use with companies “doing the right things”. He explains why his role is more aptly named “director of common sense” and how perceptions around climate change have evolved thanks to David Attenborough and Mark Carney.

He also details the firm’s recently revamped Climate Impact Pledge and its involvement in the The Sustainability Reporting Standard for Social Housing.

Other topics include the asset management industry “not being great at doing the things it asks other companies to do” and how LGIM ‘walks the walk’ and not just ‘talks the talk’, and how the company is using its clout to vote against chairs or boards that are not promoting the importance of climate change and diversity.
